Check out this short film by Andy Huang, its awesome and worthy of the 4 minutes it’ll take out of your life, trust me! It’s about how we try so hard to be something we’re not. I really love the ending. What do you make of it? I love how the girl constantly tries to keep up with the image she thinks she should be, based on what the tv shows her she should look like. I took it as she kept chasing the tv, only to keep trying to keep up and be someone that she’s not, only to realize she was chasing after something that wasn’t real to begin with, hence leading to her breakdown. Good stuff, eh? Andy Huang and the makers of Mac’s Cult of Cherry video should get together and make magic together!

So I’m one of those people that have been battling acne for years. Since my teens, to be exact, and I’m in my mid twenties now and I have yet to see my way to victory. Not to say I didn’t give it a fair fight. I have seriously tried everything or at least almost everything that was worth trying out there except that one scary thing. Yep. You know what it is. That devlish thing we’ll refer to as accutane. I was scared to try it for a number of reasons, but mostly for the warnings of possible side effects of depression, and suicide. Yep, there have been hundreds of cases where people have killed themselves while taking this very drug, and still thousands of other cases of depression! No need to worry huh? While on accutane, I’m also not allowed to drink alcohol. 7 months of no alcohol for a 20 something year old – no problem! No, not a hint of sarcasm there But really, the reason I’m most terrified of taking accutane is because I get bad migraines and they’re triggered when I take certain types of antibiotics or pills. Anytime I’ve ever taken any type of other antibiotic for acne or birth control pills, it triggered bad migraines and I had to stop taking them. I can only take birth control in the form of nuvaring. So I’m really hoping I’ll be ok with this.

I had to share some pics of the packaging with you. When I first opened this, I was so freaked out! I have never seen more scarier, discouraging medication packaging in my life. Funny thing is, I opened this when I was on the train and the woman next to me couldn’t stop staring at it either with this puzzled look! LOL

You also can’t wax or do laser treatmeant while on it. I had to stop my laser sessions which I already paid for and it’s really going to suck not being able to wax my eyebrows for 7 months! I’m going to end up looking like grover from sesame street but at least I’ll have clear skin! (hopefully!) It really seems like people give up a lot and go through a lot while on accutane. I’ve been reading forums and people experiences, and sure while there’s some amazing results, people suffer some bad side effects. I’m really nervous…Is it worth the risk? I mean they say accutane should be the last resort, after you’ve exhausted all other methods. And I certainly have and nothing has worked. So I guess if I want any hope for clear skin, I need to try this right?

Well today is day 1 of my cycle. Wish me luck! I certainly had to go through a LOT to get these! I’ll keep you updated!

I am loving the way Mac is promoting their newest collection ‘Cult of Cherry.’ Seriously, after watching this video, I wasn’t sure what to do first: head to maccosmetics.com or find the nearest fruit vendor and purchase a massive amount of cherries which can be immediately devoured.  And I love how there was no hint or mention of makeup. You might only be able to get at the end when they focused in on her dark nails and cherry colored lips. I sent the link over to my coworker sitting across from me and after watching it she didn’t even know it was for a cosmetics collection. You gotta love Mac!

I am loving this collection. I know if I dig through my collection, I’ll probably find that I have most of the similar colors, but they look good together all in that palette! The one pictured above is the Spiced Chocolate palette. I also have my eye on the Tempting palette, the 2 blushes, and of course, the ‘Cult of Cherry’ lipglass. Ooh, my credit cards are silently weeping!

I breathe and yearn for knowledge about cosmetics, skincare, and owning more and MORE of it. All of us makeup junkies know that there is NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH. Even when we acquire enough so that our children and their children will have enough to use through their lifetimes, we still continue to buy more. It even gets to the point where one red lipgloss looks exactly like the next shade of red lipgloss to the average joe, but not to us! We’re able to distinguish the faintest difference in shades. WHY? Because we’re sick and addicted. But there is no 800 number for us to call. Nope. We’re doomed. We can only share in each other’s passion and talk about it and really help each other. I know there’s so many sites like it out there, but mostly they’re the big guys, funded by enormous advertising budgets used by big companies to spy on us poor consumers to use us like labrats. I remember a time when there was a particular site that used to be so small and personal, but then it got bought out and changed its name, and lost all sense of its community. But anyway, I’m not here to bash on anything, that’s not what I do. I just wanted to create a little community where beauty junkies such as myself can come to talk on the forum, discuss products. I even had a review engine put up called ‘critic’s corner’ so people can review products and look up reviews. Also thought it would be fun to have monthly contests on the site which there always are! Just want there to be a nice little place on the internet where we can come and talk about our little addictions Hope you all like it and would love to hear any thoughts!
